Suppan was the best pitcher in the NL during the 2nd half.

The surprise was Jeff Weaver returned to his pre-Yankee form.

I had previously argued that everyone was underrating Suppan and the Cards had the #1 and #3 starter in every series. That seemed to be accepted. The Weaver surprise made the run very plausible.

actually, their stats are quite close with a slight node to Clemens. Suppan had a good GO/AO ratio as well.
