Default Need NYC dining rec

I know there are several similar threads at the moment, but this is a specific request; I don't dine much around MSG, which is where I'll be Sunday evening. Several places I do know are in fact closed Sundays. So I'm looking for a good place for a party of 5, Italian or interesting American/contintental. Want to be within immediate walking distance from the Garden, that is the low/west 20s means too far. Any suggestions? Much obliged.

MSG / Penn Station is a wasteland for food.

the place with substance around there that i can think of is korean bbq.

Don Bogams
Madangsui

if all else fails, Brother Jimmys. Bucket of beer and beef tips!

whenever i'm on the west side, i tend to go to Red Cat, which is about a 5 min cab ride from MSG.

thanks, yeah I suspected the same. I'm pretty familiar with most other neighborhoods in the city, guess it's unsurprising that I can't fathom much here, especially on a Sunday night.

I can’t think of a single good place in that neighborhood.

I used to work in that neighborhood a long time ago. Soul Fixin's on 34th between 8th and 9th avenue (north side of the street). It's been awhile since I was there (might be closed now), but it was pretty good. I recall a decent take-out sushi place on 35th between 6th and 7th on the southside of the street, a chinese spot on 38th off of 8th on the northside of the street...like I said, it's been a while.
