Default Poker Psych - MenVsWomen - How does play differ...

I recently joined a new poker site and decided to use a girls name as my alias. I've seen it done by others and thought it would be ev+ to be a 'girl' at the tables...

So it got me thinking, what are the psychological factors that may influence decision making against a female. Or more specifically how do men play differently against women than they do against other men?

I want to be able to exploit my young female image...all thoughts welcome please guys?

I think males would probably give a female less respect with raises etc, for the most part wrongly assuming they don't know what they're doing. There are a lot of excellent women players out there

i find myself playing way tighter. I always tend to give women's raises more respect because I feel like they generally play kind of passively so a raise would signal significant strength. obv a stereotype, but thats just my experience.

This may not be the norm (and sorry for any offense to any ladies) but my short time online and my play at the local casino, it seems a lot of ladies play any Ace (I know...this is stereotyping and I am sorry). So, any time I play a lady and see an ace on the flop I cringe...which probably works out to their advantage anyway.

This is what I have generally found. Some will try and run over you; assuming you are always weak and have no real idea how to play the game. Others play more tentatively and give more respect to my bets.

However this may just be varying villains as it's hard to compare to other, male, players...

In live play if I see a woman with a wedding ring and she's over 30 I tend to think she will not fold once she bets. My thinking is she is a commitment person and becomes very committed to the hand she has invested in. So, I push with big hands if she bets and never bluff at her. Also I tend to think they always play any Q.

I think even the biggest fish online know that girls don`t play poker and every female avatar is a dude with hairy shoulders.
If you feel like you can solve that problem by roleplaying a chic by flirting with people..well.. maybe you are not telling us some vital info about yourself. . j/k

No hairy shoulders here. And not ghey. I guess that from these responses play wont differentiate hugely...well not enough so that I need to be consciously aware of it.

And great; now I am stuck being girl and getting nothing out out it!

No offense taken...I see the same thing all too often, although the pattern often becomes evident and can be taken advantage of.

There is one woman locally who will play not just any ace, but also any king. She has no clue about betting patterns and did not understand why everyone who stayed in to see the flop calls her.

I don't profess to have all of this stuff down in the two months I have been playing (ok, almost three), but I feel like I hold my own in the range I play.
