Default beat: driving in florida

so i moved to the tampa area in april of last year and i noticed something about the way people drive down here that i've never seen before, and it makes me want to crush their skulls. i moved from baltimore and worked in DC and people drive like maniacs in DC but i've still never seen what i see EVERYONE do down here. they'll drive 5-10 mph under the speed limit, then when you get in another lane to to pass them....THEY SPEED UP AND DONT LET YOU PASS. i see this at least 10 times a day and it drives me up a [censored] wall. is it just a florida thing or what....? i've never seen people do that anywhere else in america that i've been.

Ive lived in Tampa my whole life. I want to kill people that do this. The one guy I really want to kill to this day was doing 35 in a 45 on a 2 lane road. I pull out to pass him when there was no on comming traffic on a dotted yellow line and the [censored] speeds up until I need to slow down because a car was comming towards me. Then the [censored] slows back down to 35 this went on about 3 times. Till I said [censored] it layed way back and gunned it to 75 when there was a clearing and passed him when I had momentum on my side. I wanted to get out of my car and blow this guys [censored] head off. I still do and that was 5 years ago. I hope he died in a grease fire.

I moved from Tampa to Philly and Philly drivers on average are much worst than Tampa drivers.

One could write a whole book on the psychological dynamics of this one phenomenon. But it basically boils down to assumption that if you manange to pass them then that means you are better than them, because it might mean you have somewhere you have to go that is more important then where they are going, or that your time is more valuable than theirs, hence the inferiority complex.

My suggestion is to pass these people and pump your fist at them in celebratory exultation as if your favourite sports team just won The Big One . This will enrage them much more than "the finger" if you do it once you manage to get in front of them.

Meh - I'd rather drive in spots like that than sit on the DC Beltway during rush hour traffic or pretty much any time of day all week long. I've never been on a road that has traffic on weekend days due to sun.

Yeah, I live about 40 minutes under Tampa and it only gets worse. Sarasota, Fl. is America's Cemetery imo.
