Default Thoughts on this new comp??

So I planned on buying a new rig a few months a go but decided to wait until the X38 mobo's were available. Having seen some of the reviews of them I have decided it's probably not worth spending the extra $150 and will just get a P35 mobo instead

I am only going to run one videocard plus I hear that there may be X48 mobo's being released soon. It's like even if I buy the latest tech now something else is just around the corner.

I plan to use this for Poker obv, some gaming like TFC2 and halflife etc

So new system is below, any thoughts or improvements are welcome

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600(GO Stepping) 2.4GHz 8MB L2 Cache Dual-Core Processor

- Transcend 4GB DDRII 800MHz Dual-Channel Memory

- Asus P5K-E WiFi Intel P35/ICH9 Chipset Motherboard

- XFX nVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB XXX Factory Overclocked Graphics Adaptor

- Western Digital 500GB 16MB Cache SATA2 Hard Disk Drive

- LiteOn 20x SATA Dual Layer DVDRW Drive

- Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570 case
- 3 x 12cm System Coolers

- AcBel R8 PS 700W Power Supply Unit

- 8 Channel High Definition Audio
- Gigabit High Speed Network
- External SATA Connector
- 10 x USB 2.0 Connectors

with that much video ram just get 3GB of RAM, your system will probably only be able to address 3-3.2GB. I have found that with quad core processors more RAM is good.

Why not get a SATA III HDD?

it is the way windows addresses memory. RAM is shared with other system addresses like graphics memory and can only address 4GB total.

That is why my work system with 4GB of RAM only registers 3.25GB.

Where would he get a SATA III drive? Never mind that you're apparently skipping SATA II... (3.0 Gb/S != SATA II)
