What do you guys think when someone is playing at the Mandalay Bay Championship and also in online tournaments at the same time? Obviously he has someone else playing his name. Is this ethical?

[/ QUOTE ]

Well obv what is happening is he has his laptop with him at the tourny and is playing both at the same time...i have done this before...no big deal broha

[/ QUOTE ]
Must be one of those awesome casinos where they allow you to bring in your laptop and connect to the internet while at the poker table

Last your this was allowed at the Wynn (see picture above), but they stopped it because it was found to be against casino regulations.

It seems fine in MTT's, but a little sketchy in bigger cash games(Especially if the name is well known), and then very very wrong HU.

completely agree with Thayr on this one

Maybe this is why I'm so against it in the first place. People use to trade accounts against me HU when I was playing 500/1000 and 1k/2k. Not that a good player couldn't instantly pick up on a change of style, but it's still shady in my opinion to use someone elses name on the internet. When you can't see the person, you have to depend on various other patterns, mainly of course, betting patterns. When you have extensive notes on someone, you change your game to better attack their style of game. When suddenly it's a different person with an entirely different style of play, it messes things up. I do not think it's the same as giving someone a bankroll to play on. In a live game sure, but when the only info you have on someone online is through betting patterns, then the "mysterious" player has a huge advantage over the other.

On a side note, Pokerstars doesn't care if you use other people's accounts. When this was happening to me, they even agreed that someone else was using his account but then later went on to say that since it didn't happen on a regular basis, it was OK. That makes sense... This forum has some strange ideas about what is ethical/unethical when it comes to online play

Did we not discuss a year or two ago when Hellmuth was in some charity event while someone was hosting an online event using his UB account? It seems like that was the cherry re. this topic.

Stakes variation of game should not matter, using somebody elses account/screen name is unethical. IMO.
