I have also played 5/5 at the MGM. It doesn't run that often though. Seems like it's only on weekends in the evening. It's been a while though, so I could be wrong.

you lost $1800? sometimes you're going to take big hits. if you buy in for 1000, then I'd say it's no big deal. maybe tighten up, or grind it out more. i only had a 2k bankroll and i was playing 5/5 500 max and doing well...averaging 1k over about 10 hours. this seems pretty good for someone new to poker. this did include my losses as well, which is expected.
