Just as a side note here I might bet $275-$300 here with a nice size stack but I am short-stacked and I do not want to overcommit without too many chips to spare here...what is my best line...attempt to check it down?...Any possibility that betting here is +EV?

I look at it 2 different ways. 1- He's checking expecting a cbet from you... representing strength or a great draw. 2- The flop scares him as well and you're way ahead.

I would weigh these two options and play accordingly. You're right, if you bet here and he pushed, you'd be commited...

I still say you have to bet and hope he has the Ah or something like JJ-88 with a heart. Horrible board.

I'm checking behind here due to the limp cold call of the UTG+1 villain. I think he is in a perfect spot to c/r with a big hand.

I check here, and feel good about it too. I used to cbet way too often in these situations, but I feel you will get c/r alot here. Evaluate on turn. Would be nice to check/call this one down, but your stack is really akward.Horrible spot this.

I bet 400 and I wouldn't fold to a possible re-raise. It's more likely for him to have a lower PP or some connector than Kx or a made flush. And if he's got a lone heart I'm not keen on handing out free cards.
