Default What is a good tournament ROI?

I'm pretty sure someone has addressed this before. If so, please provide a link.

What is considered as good Tournament ROI%? (20%,40%,60% or 80%+)

Live, online have different answers?

Is one year about 100 live tournaments (avg buyin $1000) a good sampling space?

100 tourneys is basically meaningless

good roi depends on number of entrants, structure, etc

Online 100 is meaningless because you can MTT.

But, 100 live tournaments still meaningless?

Here are the buy-in, entrance, structure.
$335/500 - 25/25/40min/1500
$535/400 - 25/25/40min/2000
$1000/300 - 25/25/40min/3000
$1500/400 - 25/50/60min/3000
$2500/400 - 25/50/60min/5000
$5000/300 - 25/50/60min/10000
$10000/600+ - 25/50/90min/20000

Basically theirs no reason to care.

If I told you your ROI sucks, its of no benefit to you, and if I told you your ROI is godly, its also of no benefit to you.

Its just some arbitrary number with basically no meaning since these things require a negligible amount of skill.

You won't play enough tournaments in your life live to have a meaningful sample size.

Your live ROI should be larger than your online ROI relative to buyin (of course), but still 100 tournaments per year is a very small samplesize.

I mean, you could get mathematical to try and determine your true edge, but it requires gauging your assumed skill level versus a qualitative value of the relative skill of the field, which is really tough.

Basically, if you are a thinking good player you should have a very good ROI in live tournaments longterm. Determining whether or not your true ROI is worth the cost/expenses of the live tournament circuit means comparing your thought processes and talents and skill versus players you feel have a very large edge in MTT's.

NY, I think what you want to know is "what is the upper bounds of the possible ROI for a tournament player", especially applicable to live tournaments, since that's what you do.

Fact is, after years of live tournaments you still won't be able to figure out your true ROI relative to the field, and don't forget things like the strength of the field changing and your own skills improving or diminishing.

All that matters is that your ROI is definitely good enough if you continue to apply yourself and get better.

ROI his hypothetical and there are too many variables that go into it to say what is "good"

Thanks.

I'll see if I can maintain and improve my first year's "OK" ROI in my second year.
