Default Unusual fantasy football keeper help

12 teams
You are able to keep 1 player from the previous year but you have to draft him in the second half of the draft and keep him on your roster for the entire season. We take 18 players so it’s not hard to bury someone on the bench all year.

Back up running backs who have the potential to be starters next year is what I’m trying to find. I got Cedric Benson in the 10th round last year. I’m looking for someone like that or a receiver that might be in their second year and going to make their 3rd season breakout next year.

Any diamonds in the rough you can think of?

Arrington from Arizona, maybe?

As for rookies (I know you didn't ask about them) that will be available late, maybe take a gamble on Brandon Jackson in Green Bay? That team's #1 is Vernand Morency who hasn't made it a full season as a starter. Jackson has gotten good reviews so far in camp.

I was under the impression Jackson was going to get more carries than Morency. He's at least going higher in fantasy drafts from what I've seen

As far as receivers go, I've seen some people pretty high on Patrick Crayton of Dallas. He had a ridiculously high reception rate last year, and a yds/rec of around 14, so he's not just catching little dumpoffs, and TO and Glenn aren't getting any younger (I think Glenn is coming in injured)

Michael Turner will be a free agent so he should be starting somewhere next year. I dont know to many young receivers though.

That's why I had the question mark after his name. It never helps being on Arizona, either. That's where running backs go to die, despite people saying they supposedly go into each season with a good OL.

As far as I know, Morency is the starter in GB, but he has been hurt in camp, so Jackson is getting the bulk of the carries.

I have a feeling that by the end of the season, Jackson will touch the ball more often each game than Morency. Noah Herrion is also a relatively decent back that will see some time. He did a solid job last year when they needed him, but he's a non-entity in fantasy football.

Taking Jackson, especially as a rookie, would definitely be a fantasy gamble, particularly because he was never even a starter for a full season at Nebraska.

Michael Bush, if he is able to get healthy could be starting at Oakland next year.
