Seems to me your giving them to much credit for trip 7's. I think you have the best hand 9 times out of ten. Is it possible he called down with bottom pair from the flop...sure, but I'd take me chances. If he raises the river..do you think you win at least 1 in 6 times when you call? I think you do. Some folks raise as pure bluffs when the board pairs, especially after calling down and missing their draw. The board is just to ragged to guess anything else.

bilge,

having the best hand 9 times out 10 isn't gonna cut it considering the pot-size and i'm not sure if i check (or bet) and villain charges me extra, if i'll have the best hand often enough in a 7 bet pot (which isn't too small, but still small enough to make me think about this).

not that i disagree that i'll almost always bet and almost always call if s/he raises, here, but i'm curious what SSSH thinks is *necessary* to make this a fold (if such a situation exists).

btw, i think a ragged board is a reason why villain is slightly more likely to have tripped up.

so, bilge, what kind of villain can we bet/fold against, here?

thanks dude,
bbbushu

I think if it were middle pair, there is a greater chance that he tripped up, but (read dependent) not a great number of opponents will call down with such a ragged board bottom pair with J or higher on the board.

Had this been middle pair on a J94 board...I can see possible c/c the river because it is more likely to have hit him. I think you can safely fold a 4-5 bb pot or smaller to a raise on the river from an extremely passive opponent. Beyond that I would call down almost any other time. (on a ragged board such as this). I am curious to see what others think though.

Why do you think he has a 7? Or are you just trying to look at this deeper? I think this is an easy b/c against an unknown. Against an aggro player you might want to c/c because he could bluff on this paired river. Since he limped with no one in the pot, I usually think he's got a J or T, probably a worse J than you as well. Pretty easy bet I think.

jiggymike,

would BT just need to be REALLY passive to fold this, here, making it unthinkable against a player i didn't have a very strong read on?

looks like the forum has spoken,

If I am playing live and someone raises me here who hasn't raised once in 3 hours, I'm folding. Online it is harder to say, people make more moves. He'd have to be pretty damn passive, more so than most 6maxers.
