Default Rake increase in Ladbrokes cash games

Just a heads up for laddies cash players.

Ladbrokes have upped their rake in cash games from 5c for every dollar in the pot, to 6c for every dollar in the pot. Obv this has a significant affect on long term winrates, but is a change they no doubt will get away with it as their schools of fish won't notice.

Obviously this is not mentioned anywhere on their site, have sent them an email showing my displeasure, no doubt will get a "get lost we don't care" email back.

This is the reply i got, it in affect confirms my OP. Just they have put in a way so the general retard poker fish won't understand it.

Dear Mr XXXXX,

Thank you for your e-mail.
Ladbrokes Poker has had a change in our rake structure; for further information around the details of this change please go to www.ladbrokespoker.com

Please note that the maximum rake of $3 dollars has not been increased and the change is simply in the way in which the rake is calculated. Please find below the new rake structure.

Rake is only collected on called bets; the number of players dealt into the hand determines the maximum rake as per the schedule below. No rake is taken from pots where the flop is not seen.

Heads-up games $0.01 in every $0.20, except for the last $0.20 in every $1 for which werake $0.02. Maximum of $1

3-5 handed games $0.01 in every $0.20, except for the last $0.20 in every $1 for which werake $0.02. Maximum of $2

6 or more handed games $0.01 in every $0.20, except for the last $0.20 in every $1 for which werake $0.02. Maximum of $3

If we can be of any further assistance, please contact us again and we will be more than happy to help you.

Yours sincerely,
Richard

Regulars at ladbrokes already receive like 0 promotions worth anything and now they increase the rake to throw out 50k freelols to a few high stakes players and only 1 or 2 of them plays on the site. Im sure that promo has nothing to do with the rake increase but it still feel like I have to pay for it (at least some of it). If they start giving us lower limit grinders something back occasionally I would be happy.

Hmm..I don't play cash games there (ther RB sucks compared to Prima/iPoker etc) but do keep $1000 or so in at the moment as a safer harbor than NT and for the occasional MTT.

I think I might have to withdraw it on principle now though.

I emiailed their support about this 3 days ago seeking confirmation and they haven't given me the courtesy of a response (and it's well hidden on their website of course - I couldn't find it at all).

Now labrokes are a huge name in UK gaming. It might be worth a heads-up to some UK poker magazines - assuming of course that Labrokes don't just buy off the journalists with advertising $$$

To sneakily increase the house's take by 20% and out of line with all the other rooms is very very greedy - a bit of outrage is worth it here to try to deter others from following suit - after all it won't take long before the extra 20% rake has cost Labrokes customers more than the Superuser account ever did the players over at Absolute..

Other Microgaming sites still rake $0.01 per $0.20 on tables >$0.05/$0.10 (HU Max $1, 3-10 players Max $3). The low stakes tables <$0.05/$0.10, the rake is $0.01 per $0.10 (Max Rake $0.10, 2-10 players).

Email exchange with Ladbrokes..

Alex,

So in a $1 pot you rake 6c (6%), before it was 5c (5%)
in a $20 pot you rake 6% ($1.20) before it was $1 (5%).
and in a $40 pot you also rake 6% ($2.40) (before it was $2, again 5%)
and you hit the rake cap of $3 at $52 rather than at $60?

Certainly any pot over $1 you are raking more than 5%.

The totally correct statement is that 'we are raking 6% where before we raked 5% subject to the same $3 cap, except that in 80% of pots under the cap (pots where the cents figure is between 1c and 80c) we rake 1c less.'

I guess that 1c discount enables you to claim that you haven't just increased your rake by 20% without telling anyone eh?

Not quite as misleading as AP recent fiasco, but in terms of openess it runs it a close second IMHO..

I'm afraid this won't go unnoticed on the online forums.

Hi,

I'm a $200 6 max cash game player.

I heard a rumour that you have increased the rake on cash games to 6%
(from the industry standard 5%).

Can you please confirm if this is in fact the case as I can't seem to
find any info on this either in the news or poker rules sections.

thanks

andy

well it's our job to stop other sites from thinking this sort of stealth rake raise is a good idea - if it means 10-13% more rake for them overall we need to get the word out and try to see numbers drop by more than that or it's +EV behaviour for them..

One thing I can't understand as a Euro/GB site - they could have just got rid of $ tables and had the benefit of e3 or £3 caps instead which would probably have netted them a similar amount of increased rake with no outcry - or maybe they are planning that next..
