Default Never Again - Planet Hollywood on Tuesday nights

Tonight I decided to play at Planet Hollywood. No special reason except I thought I could find a nice chair to sit on the second floor so I could read my book, I was wrong so I played pokah instead because thats what true degenerates do. Unfortunately they only had 1/2 running but it was short handed so i jumped in.

It was a nice game, the atmosphere in the room was great, the dealers were competent, and The Grinder was primping like a peacock (he hosts a tournament there as well as the high-limit Chinese Poker game). Until 9PM... then it was all downhill.

Some brain surgeon in Planet Hollywood management thinks its a good idea for Tuesday nights to be a free-for-all Karaoke experience featuring the worst singers you could ever possibly hear. I've heard dying cows who sound healthier than some of the off-key home town heros, it was so bad that I went to another casino to continue playing. Now imagine if I was in the pit laying black on black BJ action, thats potentially a huge loss for the cassino if they drive away anyone due to bad singing (its audible over 1/3 of the casino floor!). IMHO the person who gave Karaoke night the red light should be fired, there are good reasons why no other casino does that on the main floor LDO.

[/end rant]

It has been about two years since I been there, but do they still have that Karaoke across the street from the Belaggio? Walking that part of the strip was bad enough.

Agreed, that person should be fired and fried.

Unlike the poker room, BJ players aren't opposed to others having fun. It doesn't bother a BJ player, or a dice player, or a slot player. I'm sure the fun atmosphere HELPS the pit more than it hurts it.

I went on a CardPlayer Cruise once. They set up the poker tables in what is normally "The Library" on ship, in the main atrium. On the same level, just down the hall, was the piano bar, which featured nonstop drunken sing-a-longs. The piano bar was enclosed, but the door was propped open, inviting one and all come in and have some fun. The music poured out into the entire atrium.

Angry poker players kept coming from the poker room to shut the door.

I'm not opposed to them having fun. They can have all the fun they want. Just shut the damn door because I don't care to hear it.

Of all of the things that make me glad I quit drinking, Karaoke is three of them.

Have you ever been to Planet Hollywood? This is a Karaoke fun gambling crowd, Karaoke on the main floor cheapens the main casino floor. Now Karaoke upstairs on the second level makes total sense, there is a bar up there that is not being used and could really rock with that type of silliness but on the main floor? Thats retarded. It must affect gambling yield.

I guess this is mostly correct. But at the Horseshoe-tunica for example there are many BJ players who whine and complain a LOT if their table is too near the band on a night when they are particularly loud.
Obviously they have some options to try to get further away from the band if it bothers them that much.

I remember playing in a casino in the NE that I eventually worked at and absolutely LOVED being near the band. (Bj/Craps). The main reason besides being able to psuedo dance in my chair, without being alcohol induced as they didn't serve, was that I didn't have to hear some schmuck douche telling me what I should and shouldn't do with my $10 bets and how to play my cards. I think with younger people playing poker these days it is less of an issues, but on Mon night while they were reviewing a play at the very end of the football game (at the time it showed 1 second remaining on the game clock) I was called over to a table because one of the players would like the players that were watching the game to be quiet.
