Default logmein for tech support. anything better?

my dad often calls w/ minor tech support problems and i have to walk him through the steps and it can get frustrating for us both. he is a photographer, has converted to digital and the other day he drove an hour each way to have someone show him where on his laptop where his .jpg files where since he couldnt find the folder.

searching the forum here i see logmein may be a good program choice for me to access his computer during these similar situations although people dont specially mention using it for this function it seems like it would be fine. is there a better site that would be aimed at doing trouble shooting (opening explorer, installing programs, running spybot, etc).

i probably only have one shot at trying to teach my dad one program to use so id rather get it right the first time.

thanks.

LogMeIn is going to be your best option - just because it is sooo easy. It basically requires no setup on his end, even with the free edition. Using any VNC software opens your system up to the internet and is alot more difficult to setup.

With LogMeIn, all you do is simply run the installer and enter your logmein account credentials and it will automatically enter that computer under the My Computers heading on the site. Then, you can take control of it as long as the PC is powered on and is online.

For security, and ease of setup and use, it's definitely your best option.

I use Log Me In to access my work computer from my residence.

It would work perfect for that use.
