Direct2Drive router issue?
I am currently downloading Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts from D2D. I should have just driven to EB, but whatever. Anyways, the DL is about 8 gig and I am at around 100-120K/s -- yuk.
Instructions mention opening port xxx when using the downloader. Of course I can't find my router pw and don't really feel like going through the reset process unless it is a slam dunk. So, any thoughts on if it is worth the effort? Is this an issue where the Downloader wouldn't be working properly if there was a router issue or could it be working crapily (as it is now) and benefit from the port forwarding? Anyone use D2D or have an educated guess? |

Re: Direct2Drive router issue?
I've never tried D2D. Are you running some app of theirs to download it? What port do they want?
I assume if you didn't have the port open, it wouldn't work at all. MAYBE it's using some alternative port, since you don't have xxx open, but that seems hard to believe. |

Re: Direct2Drive router issue?
Yeah, they have a download manager. Port 28xxx something, would have to double check.

[/ QUOTE ] This is what I was thinking as well but my networking knowledge is pretty poor so I thought I would go for some other opinions. Not too big of as deal I have other stuff I should be doing anyways at the moment (and tomorrow). Thanks for the reply, Sam. |

Re: Direct2Drive router issue?
update: well things are going much smoother now. There are 4 1.86gb parts to the game and I was dling two at a time. The first finished and when I connected for the 3rd I am getting ~300Ks for that part and ~100-130 for the 2nd. So, looks like everything will be wrapped up by the time I awaken tomorrow.
When connecting the the DL manager it mentions selecting a mirror, so perhaps I was just on a crappy server for the first two chunks. |
