Re: What political opinion did/do youre parents have?
parents: "relatively" small government, Reagan-type conservatives -- they are warming up to Ron Paul's positions, based on some of my recent rants and their overall disappointment with GWB. They would never, ever go Democrat.
me: Libertarian with strong AC sympathies. I like some of the conservative values (late-term abortion strikes me as a sick act, etc.), but think that pushing these on other people via government legislation/force is a terrible way to express them. |

[ QUOTE ]
Ron, sounds like you need to be spending more time campaining @ home and less time on 2+2. Make a difference man .. a converted socialist is like an ex smoker. they will convert 1000000000000 more or die trying. [/ QUOTE ] Socialist conversion trip report: Me: I like Ron Paul because he strongly opposed the internet gambling ban. He's also very anti-war. Mom: Who the heck is Ron Paul? Me: He's a congressman from Texas and running for president as a republican. He's not really a republican though, he ran on the libertarian ticket in 1988. He just calls himself republican because... Mom: A libertarian? Those guys are all kooks! They're like anarchists AMIRITE?! Me: Libertarians mainly just want lower taxes and... Mom: KOOOOOOOOOOK! Me: Lower taxes are bad? Mom: I believe the government should do SOME things! Me: Ugh. See you at Thanksgiving. *click* That's not exactly how it went down, but close enough. |

Re: What political opinion did/do youre parents have?
My parents were both moderately conservative, but over the years I gradually "converted" them to libertarianism. It wasn't difficult to do because cause neither of them are religious, so they never did agree with the positions taken by the lunatic religious right.
