wow a lot of these posts shouldn't even be on here...why are people putting up speeds like "115" ???

I was at 140 in my '99 Eclipse(It might've been a 98 or something iunno) but the speedometer went to 165 or 170 but I wasn't gonna try that. I expect to top 160 in my lifetime, or maybe just die trying stupid [censored] like this.

[/ QUOTE ]

You ask why are people putting up speeds like 115?

Perhaps it's because the OP asked "fastest you've ever driven".

It's not a pi**ing contest.

I went 100 just to see what it was like, and then immediately slowed down.

To be fair, it took a hell of a long time, and might have taken ages to get much higher (1st gen Prius)

what are the odds of you dieing if your tire popped while you were going your top speed?

[/ QUOTE ]

Probably 1:1 lol

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think it's this high, cars are so survivable these days. You can get into some really nasty wrecks and just walk away.

[/ QUOTE ]

If everyone was wearing their seatbelt you might be right, but I'm assuming 100% of people not wearing their seatbelt die at 100+ with a blowout. Obviously, it would be dumb to go top speed and not be buckled in, but you know there have to be some people who do it..

I did 112 once in a VW bus, not too impressive. Could have done better but that damn boat I was pulling was starting to fishtail.
