going from midstakes 6max nl to mtts

I've been doing very well over the last few months at msnl which had a lot to do with good game selection. I'm having a hard time finding finding those games anymore though and i've been thinking about getting into tournaments anyway. Everytime i play a tournament i'm amazed at how soft the games are. I'm curious how much different is the mindset of a mtt player, how many tables(tournaments) do you typically play at one time and how much does being a tournament (and not a cash game) change the best lines to take on any given hand?
