Default Limit 08....getting started?

I was hoping there had been some discussion for making a transition from LHE to L08.

Particularly online 2-6 handed.

My search isnt turning up much.

Anyone have anything saved?

If not I have a few Q's to ask but Ill wait and see if its been done.

Thanks

[/ QUOTE ]Mountain Biker - There has been.

Try this: Type "hold 'em" in the search box (including the quotation marks). You should get about 200 listings, some of which may involve the discussion you may be seeking.

I prefer Omaha-8, but sometimes I play Texas hold 'em. My approach to the two games is like night and day. My mind set is very much different for the two games.

It is nice when a fresh player sits down and uses a T.H.E. approach. Fuels the game for a while.

Short handed Limit Omaha is the most under written game in Poker. Because of this, if you get good, it can be immensely profitable. Also, it has variance beyond any you can believe in a limit game. So the best thing to do is just to play. Steve Badger, an old rgp guru, once said that the best book to read on Omaha was the bible. Like the old Abe LIncoln quote, you will be driven to your knees in prayer at times.

Sorry about off topic question, but I would love to hear some tips about moving from plo8 to o8? For me it seems very difficult (agression etc.).

Are you saying limit 08 has this immense variance? Or just limit omaha?

I meant Omaha8. I think high only limit Omaha is as popular as five card stud.

I agree with this 100%...

...but not this. My experience has been that the variance for shorthanded omaha/8 is significantly lower than in LHE, which is not surprising given the split pot nature of the game, and given the frequent freerolling opportunities.
