joker122 i think ur underestimating peoples ability to call with [censored] that doesnt beat anything at all

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with joker122's initial premise but this simple statement is pretty correct too, so I'm a bit torn.

Bet. Horrible spot to check raise imo. Pot is pretty big and it's looking like he is paying off, don't give him a chance to check behind with one of these hands. I really hate a check raise here, hate it.

Im torn also. It seems like a valid argument can be made for both lines. I would lean towards betting the river however becuz I do think Joker is underestimating the villain's range of calling hands that wont bet if checked to.

I just wanna say that I love the format of Joker's OP. He constructs a common spot we all face, and then hes says what he thinks is the best line and then discussion begins. I think it would be great if more strong players like Joker posted like this.

"And if we are assuming that he's competent enough to fold 44-88 (a reasonable assumption that I agree with for the most part, tho certainly you will get some calls), he should also be competent enough to fold a naked J to a c/r. So I don't see you gaining much by trying to c/r those hands: they may not value bet, and they likely won't call the c/r. Whereas they are calling your river bet for sure.
"
yeah, this def. detracts from the argument for cring.

fwiw this was ftp 1k/2k, bb was patrick antonious who i understand is a v good player (i don't follow pop poker at all) and utg was sassi who i don't know much about except that he's.a regular at the ft nosebleed limit games

I defintily sexy more than anyone I play with, so fortunatuly through experimentaiton (and hundreds of whiffed c/r) ive learned a lot of the nuances of when to and when not to sexy.

The bigget thing ive realized is it's important you know the opponents river tendencies before you start sexying.. *exceptions on the rare boards*

There are certaintly opponetns I would sexy here... but even more I wouldnt...

Gherigs response is the main reason.

I wonder if there was any chance Patrik was check/calling. Haven't watched those games much so I don't know if this is impossible for him (like he's a relentless river value machine) or not.
