Sorry i've already got a kid, and guess what i spanked her when she was younger.

And returning the kittne back to where i got it would be to a farmer that kills kittens that dont get given away.

Back to litter box issues. I also always thought they naturally pooped in the box, but this kitten aint down with that at all, even when i would catch it in the middle of pooping and put it in the box, it would try to get out of the box about 4 times and i would have to put it back in over and over until it would finally go.

the only thing i can think of is that i got the litter from dollar general, so maybe its some bunk stuff that doesn't have the poop-on-me-litter smell.

OP,

Please return the kitten to where you got it, and never again get a pet. While we are at it, please never have children. Now that I've thought about it, please just kill yourself.

Thanks,

LFS

Stop hitting the kitten.

Just put the litter box in the middle of the room where the cat wants to go. Then each day move the litter box a foot closer to the bathroom or wherever you want it to be. Keep doing this, and within a week the litter, and the cat poo should be in the bathroom.

Otherwise return the cat.

I think you're supposed to sequester them in a small room with the litter box for a couple days to (Re)train them to the litter box.

OP fwiw a spray-bottle filled with water is better than smacking it, it's just as effective and less damaging.

Also yeah unfortunately you basically just have to take it to the litterbox every 30-45 minutes after it's eaten and basically make sure it craps there, after a while (a month at most based on my experiences with cats) it will learn and just start doing it by itself.

Also you might consider keeping it in one room (with the door shut) with the litterbox and its food, covering it with newspaper, to minimize the cat crap damage until you get back.
