Default rum drinks

recently i've discovered that the only booze that will get me drunk is rum. i don't like coke, so rum and cokes are out of the question. i also have no qualms about standing at a bar or club with a girly drink in my hand. but i don't want to order some ridiculous drink that will take the bartender a long time to make.

any suggestions?

There was a post earlier about daquari's that I think I will try this weekend. A real daquari is Rum, ice, sugar i think? Mojitos were also mentioned, I will try that to.

It's rum, sugar (or simple syrup, better since the sugar ususally doesn't dissolve), and lime juice. It's usually not served on the rocks.

ETA: make sure that you don't get some of those yuppie slushie things.

I think there was just a thread about daquaris a few days ago, and a few rum drinks were listed there. Worth taking a look at. But you could also go to the webtender and they have an option to chose ingredients. Just select rum from the menu and you should have a pretty big list of drinks that involve rum.

I enjoy rum in about any fruit beverage, like lemonade, I dont really have a favorite though.

And yeah, if you don't care about having a girly drink in your hand, then a strawberry daquari is probably what you're looking for.

BTW, you can just go to webtender.com and then go to the 'in my bar' section. Mess around with a bunch of mixers and rum and see what list of drinks they give you.

edit: I see that a few people beat me to the punch here.

I'm guessing what he means is that it's the only drink he enjoys enough to drink enough of to get drunk.

not really sure why, but i can drink a lot of other boozes, not get drunk (buzzed at best) and will usually get sick before i feel anythign remotely fun.

this was not always the case. just the past 3 years. i think i overdid it in my your or something. first time i noticed was when i drank 11 double vodka tonics, and felt nothing.

for the longest time i just accepted this, then a month ago i was at a tiki party, and apparently rum does the trick. it was fun. i missed it. i also forgot how much hangovers hurt.
