for those who dont know about Beirut check them out.. they have a new cd that leaked that comes out in a week or so.. its very good, along with thier two previous cds Lon Gisland and Gulag Orkestar. If you like neutral milk hotel you will like these guys, thats a promise.

Really? I was actually expecting the review to be lower than what it deserved simply because of the hype surrounding the album. Pitchfork LOVES to serve as hype-crushers.

Yeah I was expecting the same thing. Drowned in Sound gave it a perfect 10, which as far as I'm aware, they pretty much never do.

Critcs aside, this album is the best I've heard in a long time.

tomorrow begins my month long spree of shows.

Interpol, followed by New Pornographers, The National, and Spoon. The Decemberists just announced a new tour, where they perform long songs 1 night, and poppy songs the next night. this would be cool, but I'll be on vaca in Greece when they are here

For me next month is going to be like that. This month is just Animal Collective, the Editors and the LCDS/Arcade Fire show.

Animal Collective was last night and it was amazing. They played the Fire-Essplode-works song mentioned earlier in this thread, Peacebone and I think Unsolved Mysteries and unless I am forgetting something, that was it off of Strawberry Jam. I could be mistaken because its hit or miss on my recognizing things from before feels or off of EPs, but I think they played a lot of new material.

Anyway, it was really really good.

Hot.

ACL starts Friday. Whoever booked M.I.A. and LCD Soundsystem, and then Wilco and My Morning Jacket, opposite one another should be fired, but other than that it should be awesome.

Plus, Saturday night is Blonde Redhead & the National, and next Saturday is Animal Collective.

Oh yeah, I saw the Silver Apples last week! They were (he was) really good.
