obv it's both a fruit (botanical) and a vegetable (culinary), so a question like this can only either be asking one of 2 things:
(1) do you consider a tomato more of a vegetable or more of a fruit
(2) (because only one of the terms is defined botanically but both are defined in the culinary sense) what is its culinary classification.

most people obviously use it and think of it as a vegetable most of the time, but unfortunately everyone has heard this question when they were younger as a trick question and now everyone knows that it's technically a fruit, so when asked this question everyone answers "fruit" even though they spend most of their lives thinking of it as a vegetable. (i am one of those people, but if i could take it back and vote vegetable i would)
