Re: Rigged to make sure Hellmuth makes final table?
[ QUOTE ]
phil aboslutely is good for poker. love him or hate him he is good for the game. people from all over the rio were coming over to watch Phil on the rail yesterday. celebritizing the players on TV is what is going to keep poker popular for years to come, not watching exciting AK vs. 88 coinflips. tc [/ QUOTE ] I Agree. Even sometime it bother me with his act at the table. Still I alway enjoy watching him play and believed that he's clearly 1 of the best tourney players. His record doesn't show much last couples of years b/c Phil hardly play. If he play like others he might win much much more. |

Re: Rigged to make sure Hellmuth makes final table?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Who cares? It's not going to affect the payouts. Hellmuth on TV can only be good for poker as a whole. [/ QUOTE ] it is going to affect the results dramatically. bubble play is a big part of MTT's and some players have huge edges over others in different areas. one of these areas is shorthanded play. the difference between playing one 10 player table instead of two 5 player tables is vast. theres a lot more action in shorthanded games with players having a wider hand range and posting blinds more often. for example a shortstack can survive way longer in a full table where he can see way more hands before getting blinded out. if you dont play MTT's (or generally have no clue about things) i advise you to shut up about this issue. this is very unethical of WSOP. imagine a tournament with 23 players divided into two 9 player tables and one with only 5 players. would that be right? [/ QUOTE ] they bring it to 1 table with 10 anyways, but end with 9 so no difference sorry |

Re: Rigged to make sure Hellmuth makes final table?
As has already been stated before, the WSOP always combines the tables when down to 10 players. The only "question" about this final table, and why Phil is mentioning he hasn't made the final table yet, is because he's trying to tie T.J. Cloutier's record for most WSOP final tables at 39, and to do so would require him to outlast one more player.

they bring it to 1 table with 10 anyways, but end with 9 so no difference sorry [/ QUOTE ] Actually I think it does make a difference. TV bubble is a huge deal to a lot of people, which give the big stacks more of an opportunity to pressure them. It's the same principle as WPT events where getting rid of the 7th player from the table usually takes hours. There's also the stamina factor for players who were out of gas mentally being protected from making mistakes by the day ending earlier than it was supposed to. It's not thrilling that ESPN gets to rewrite tournament rules at whim. Although the players probably would have agreed to the change if asked. |

Re: Rigged to make sure Hellmuth makes final table?
The 6max 2.5kNL event was sheducled to be televised. It wasn't televised to put Phil on tv and film a special on him. This is abosutly 100% unfair to the players as many people plan on only playing the TV events.
