jj overpair on scary-as-hell board vs 2 checks. bet river?
$3/$6 limit I'm new at the table.
2nd hand at the table, I'm SB w/ 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. It folds to me, I raise, BB calls. Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I bet, BB calls. Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I bet again, hoping he's on draw. He calls. River: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I bet, he calls w/ AJ. So, I don't think I have a very respectable table image. 2 hands later: I'm CO with J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG+1 raises, MP 1 and MP3 call, I 3-bet, they all call. Flop: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG+1 bet, The other two call, I raise, UTG+1 folds, The other two call. Turn: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. They check, I bet, They both call. River: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. They both check. I... |

Bet the river. If they cold called preflop, and called all the way with any hand that beats you (ie, any 6 or 5) then more power to them.
But I plan to get paid off here by pocket pairs below my JJ more often than I get checkraised, and with your image, may even get called by some A high hands. |

This seems like a pretty easy bet. What you do if you get raised depends on some stuff.

I had asked that question, but deleted it prior to your response because after thinking about it for a minute, it seemed obvious that, getting 16 to 1, I would have to call.

You can call if you want, but your losing money in that sitation. You aren't good once in 17 or whatever you need.

So, I don't think I have a very respectable table image. [/ QUOTE ] Wtf does this comment mean? Villain played the first hand very passive. |

FYI, 53s is one of those hands that I'll typically open complete with against an unknown or known passive opponent.
You have a pretty easy value bet on the river, and yes, getting such insane pot odds it's a bet/call with the lack of reads you have. I tend to think that even a donk would've let you know on the turn if he had a 5, and your opponents are just as likely to have paired something else, have a smaller overpair, or just have called with their ace high + gutshot (I know) or a 7 on the turn. And will pay off with many of those hands. |

This is a huge pot, where more than often JJ will be way ahead of your loose opponents range of hands so you should value bet here.
