Default 2/4 B&M - Spewing all over myself on the river

2/4 B&M, 10 handed, loose & passive

SB is loose passive old guy. Kind of guy that flops a set and then just calls down if ever raised for fear of monsters.

Button is very loose passive old guy. Will always get to at least the turn with any piece for any amount of bets.

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
4 calls, Hero calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB checks

Flop (8 players, 7 SB): J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB bets, 2 calls, Hero raises, Button coldcalls, SB calls, other 2 calls

Turn (5 players, 8 BB): 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
checked to Hero who bets, Button calls, SB calls, others fold

River (3 players, 11 BB): 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB bets, Hero raises...

I'm fairly certain the first 3 streets are standard, it's the river I'm concerned with...

1) Against old passive guy who doesn't seem overly concerned with runner runner flush, can I possibly raise this hoping he was only betting trip 9's?

2) If Button 3bets, is this the world's most easiest fold?

Given your reads of the SB and button, you've gotta call here. It seems like the button will pay one bet with lots of hands that beat you. I think raising probably wins the same amount when you're ahead, but loses more when you're behind.

If the button 3 bets your beat, but I call 1 bet back to me if I'm closing the action. Your getting 17-1 if sb folds, 19-1 if he calls. I wouldn't fold when the pots that big. If its a mistake, its a small one, folding the best hand here would tilt the hell out of me.If sb reraises I'm out of there.

I think I just call on the river after the SB bets into me with the board pairing and 3 flush out(BD or not with these 2/4 passive caller types). Button may just call and you pick up a bet here from him if you are good. Possible cheaper SD if you aren't good here. If the button raises and SB 3 bets then you can consider a fold I think.

Forgot (or ignored) the profile of the SB?

Here's a refresher:

Ya, I knew I spewed here. I wish I could spot that in the heat of battle more easily.

One way is to conciously stop and think of the situation. There's no rush to act. Just take your time.

But we've all had that 'oops' moment where we raise and then realize just who we're raising.

If the river was the 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (i.e. no flush) does it change anything here?

What would this player be betting into you with? He isn't betting the flop with 2nd pair so it's unlikely he just has trips.
