Well - before the start of the film you often get adverts that tell you that coke popcorn and dogs can be bought to help you enjoy the film and that phones and talking isnt allowed.

It isnt so much an implied consensus as to proper behavious since its made pretty clear before the film starts.

I wouldnt use my mobile in a church and i wouldnt use it in the cinema. I have done on a train and bus and i feel no shame about doing so.

1. Most people are incapable of doing this. I know because I can and people are generally amazed by it.

2. Anyone who can do this wouldn't be posting in this thread, because people who can't go 5 minutes without using their portable talky thingy don't bother them.

People talking loudly on their cell phones piss me off as well. One thing I've thought to do, but haven't had the balls to try, is to just slide up next to this person and begin interjecting into their conversation in an equally loud voice.
