Badugi or Cougar?
I played with a guy in my home guy last night who claimed to have played Badugi 5 or 6 years ago but it was called Cougar. As far as i know this game originated in Korea and only hit the U.S. in the last 2 years. The game was also fairly new to Korea.
So has anyone ever heard of cougar? |

Re: Badugi or Cougar?
[ QUOTE ]
no. badugi = vietnam [/ QUOTE ] Can you substantiate this? There seem to be a wide variety of theories about where padooki/badugi originated. None of them have been backed up with any sort of evidence. I wonder if the theory that it originated from somewhere in the East is based purely on its Eastern sounding name. For what it is worth, padooki has been played for many, many years in the North of England (Nottingham, Sheffield, Manchester etc.). I have heard some people suggest that it was actually invented in Nottingham. I think this is unlikely, but no more unlikely than any of the other theories. However, as far as I know, padooki has been a popular game in the card rooms of North England for a lot longer than in any other part of the world. We were playing it years and years ago, before it had even been heard of in the US. |
