Why is Family Guy so funny and great, yet American Dad, made by the same people and everything just is not funny. What is the deal with that? Or maybe I am wrong let me know how you all feel on this subject.

American Dad is Family Guy without any good/compelling characters. Take away the great Family Guy charecters and that show would suck too.

The problem with American Dad is the same problem with the most recent episode of Family Guy. When Seth McFarlane gets political he just shoves his politics down your throats and makes that and not humor priority number one.

As far as I can tell, American Dad is basically and EXACT ripoff of Family Guy made by same people, right? Similar family structure, talking non-human characters, same type of humor. But i agree family guy is infinitely funnier. OP has a good point.

Becuase the creaters and writers actually do suck. Family Guy just happens to steal enough of its material to be funny.

IMO Family Guy hasn't been funny in a couple years, so I'm not surprised American Dad sucks.
