Re: Which HSP players could beat 5/10 NL online?
the only one i went 'no' for is jamie gold. i think all the other players could adjust to the game eventually (even farha). barry and antonio would probably beat the game from the start.
edit: if they had to start playing tomorrow then I'd go for just Barry and Antonio. But I'm sure the others apart from Jamie Gold could learn how to beat 5/10nl within a short space of time |

Re: Which HSP players could beat 5/10 NL online?
One thing became evident now after having read through the responses:
Donkey Milker just watches poker on tv and doesn't play these stakes online. My guess for him would be $1/2nl short stacking in casinos. |

[/ QUOTE ] I thought we are talking about with their current knowledge and understanding of the game. If we're talking about what they can learn to do well then yeah, you could take some random player off the street who doesn't know what a flush is, get him coaching from Aba and he could be a 5/10nl winner too. Kind of beats the point. |

[/ QUOTE ] From the sound of your comment you beat higher than 5/10nl, and your location is 12 tabling, that means you must play like a robot and miss half the information that goes on at the table (if that works for you good stuff cause you must make a killing 12 tabling 1k and winning). If that's the case though you don't think a guy like Antonio, or Helmuth can sit at one table and pick on the weakest players mistakes and post profit over an extended number of hands? |

Re: Which HSP players could beat 5/10 NL online?
this is crazy thinking to me.
wtf do you think the $5/$10 nl guys at FTP and PS know about NLHE that these guys do not? does Eli Elezra not know what a continuation bet is? one more point.... THE GAME ON HSP IS EXTRA LOOSE. THEY ARE PLAYING EXTRA LOOSE. IT MAKES GOOD TV AND THE ARE ENOURAGED TO DO SO. the producers said in a UK poker mag interview recently that anyone can play there as long as they have the money and are not afraid to gamble it. it makes good TV. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] so it seems like the new breed are questioning those who have already been there before.. for what? [/ QUOTE ] So that they feel better about going bust time after time at that level, telling themselves that guys like Helmtuth, Antonio and the Mouth couldn't beat it either. [/ QUOTE ] Some pretty established posters have beaten the games being discussed. You may be right, or it could be they want to compare live games to online. [/ QUOTE ] Point taken, but imo those guys like stinger for example who play the highest stakes and have been for awhile now and probably don't remember the true standard level of play at the 5/10; seeing that they worked their way up and have played much tougher competition and have become accustom to it. Didn't mean to sound like an [censored] with my comment, but it just annoys me to see all these online players think that every live pro is a huge fish, and couldn't beat msnl. I think the top online players are better than the best live ones; however to say that some of thse guys couldn't beat (not destroy) but just beat the 5/10 online is ludacris. [/ QUOTE ] I make a living playing these stakes both online and live, and anyone thinking the games are even remotely comparable is living in a dreamworld. The regs at 5/10 online are extremely solid players with very few leaks... the live players for the most part resemble the Titanic. As I recall, Mr. Mike the Mouth lost a ton of money playing online at 10/25 and 25/50 on UB several years ago, when the games were much softer than they are now... and he seems to be much better at NLHE than some of the other tourney pros. |
