Default c/r bluff -- LO8

i ran a weird bluff the other night and wanted comments on it.

UTG - me
CO - pretty good thinking player with some holes in his game, mostly overaggressive. not one to really call down a lot.
button - hilariously bad. a previous hand had him limp/calling OOP w/JT92. then calling down all the way with top two, turned boat.

5 handed game that's tightening up a little.

i raise AKQ7, double suited UTG. CO and button calls.

flop: J82, i bet they both call.
turn: 3. i bet they both call.
river: J. i check, CO checks, button bets, i c/r.

the point being i'm risking two bets to win 4.75 BBs to knock out CO's one way hand. how often am i going to get 3 bet OR my one way hand gonna take half?

this is a bad hand to be raising UTG even if it is 5 handed. I think that btn is calling you with a huge range of hands. Like a better low and possibly pair. This whole hand was played bad when you raised pf instead of just open-folding

hi ziz,

i know how to patiently wait for A245 suited.

what i haven't quite gotten used to is sitting on the side lines while money is being tossed around by a guy who open limps JT92.

Given i am a regular in this game. I would tend to fold this hand. Even if people are calling bad with horrible hands, the edge comes into better hand selection. Instead of running complicated bluffs. MOst of these guys overvalue 1 pair. I wait for those spots and pound them. Bluffing too often in this game against the villans is going to cost more money than make more money. Just one man's opinion though.

I like the imagination and courage here. I may want the pot to be a little bigger though, but if your reads are right, good play. Saying that, I'm probably giving this hand up on the flop or turn.

I like the creativity, but I think this is bad. You're repping trip jacks, so no one is going to fold a better low and your low is pretty awful. You have no high hand at all. Button seems fishy, so he's probably not folding anything here. I don think this works; you're scooped by a pair of twos and a 46 low (which these guys probably have collectively).

my reads were:

CO - terrible low.
button - trip jacks.
me - i thought i was repping trip jacks and/or nut low. wasn't really sure which hand i would be repping here and that was kind of what made me post this hand.

Hi Howzit - Interesting. Creative.

Given your description, I don't think you lose Button here, but you might lose CO if you don't bluff check/raise much on the river. And win or lose, if you have to show down, it certainly gets people to paying you off when you check raise with the nuts on some future hand.

Thought provoking.
