Default Beat: Im fat

Hello all,

There was a time long ago when i was a fit, young and healthy guy. i went to the gym 5 times a week, was in great shape and picked up more than my fair share of attractive girls.

Fast forward 3 years. I have now finished my uni degree, worked a full time job for 18 months, quit that job and have been a full time poker pro for the last year. i am earning 5 times what i earnt as a lawyer and it would appear life is perfect.

However...when i used to be a healthy person i weighed in at 83 kilograms(approx 160 pounds - not too sure about the conversion). but now im weighing in at an embarassing 110 kilos. all of the live poker, sitting down for 8 hours straight, eating crappy take away food, drinking milkshakes and whatnot has got me looking real pudgy. well, im sick of it! i just got home from a boozy night out and the girls i used to pick up without much effort now wont even look at me (and yes, my 2+2 name was an attempt at irony).

i now resolve to get back to my optimal weight. i have two simultaneous 1k weight loss bets going with different parties. my first day back at the gym is tomorrow. and im not stopping til i get there.

beat: poker + my laziness made me fat. a lot of the other regulars at my casino have stacked the weight on as well. im sick of people saying to me "geez dude, u have really put on weight." i am now geared up and ready to get back into the groove.

if anyone else is in a similar situation pm me and maybe we can set up some sort of motivational wager to keep ourselves on track.

wish me luck!

Your poker game may suffer. I've gone on/off the workout scene a few times over the last year. I'm currently on it and for the longets stretch so far.. 3 months. Anyway.. I've found that when I got my metabolism up.. I become more energetic and it affected my game as I played slightly looser.. kinda like ADHD style. I made mental notes and tried to force myself to slow down but I kept finding myself making moves or paying people off where I normally wouldn't.

It's no coincidence that many of the best players are REALLY out of shape (maybe not fat but just no muscle tone). I think the way your body physically works will effect your play. A person slouching over the table with slow metabolism will be more patient then a roid monkey.

so ur like 230 now? that sucks, I used to be roughly 160ish in high school as well when I used to play soccer all year round and have practice every single nite. 5 years later now Im 185-190, drink smoke and binge eat horribly while never exercising and think thats pretty pathetic.

Id like to say im gonna try to get in shape but I probably wont ever. Sad this is maybe the best I will ever look again (god i hope thats not true and I have a mid life crisis at some point and start working out again).
