Default Playing weak second pairs out of the blinds

We all find ourselves in this touchy situation about 600 times a session. So I'm wondering, how do you guys like to play these types of hands? An example:

PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP calls, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP bets, SB folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (2.50 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero???

assuming the villains are unknown, i'd bet the flop in order not to give a free card.

as played i'd c/r the flop once sb folds, since it's likely mp is FOS.

as played i'd c/c the turn, c/f an overcard river, c/r/f a 7, c/r/c an 8, and c/c an undercard.

i don't know if these lines are optimal against a complete unknown but that's what i'd probably do.

There's nothing wrong with betting out.

I prefer betting out compared to C/R. There is only 3SB in the pot and this gives us some bad reverse implied odds with checkraising. If he has us beat our checkraising will cost us 2sb on the flop + 2sb when we bet out on the turn. That is 4sb to win 1 sb. It would be much easier to just bet out and if he calls or raises we can decide from that point.
Generally we want to come down cheap so no need to get tricky with our marginal made hand. Bet out must be it.

This flop is unlikely to have hit anyone, so I just bet out to prevent giving a free card to two players. Take it down, next hand.

I'm not sure why you're just calling the flop if you're going to give up on the turn. I don't mind calling down here or check-raising the flop, depending on the player. I'm not representing the K here though.

calling down is fine. make a note of what villain bets with in position when checked to.

no it isnt, make him pay to draw to his overcards. I don't see how putting money in with an equity advantage is pointless if Villain wont fold the street.

Yeah, I usually bet out here. I had one of those stupid moments.
