Listen to this double-cd mixtape from start to finish and tell me that he's not one of the best well-known guys around, if not the best.

There's a link to download the entire double album.

(Mods don't worry, he released it online for free, so its not stealing)

I always WTF'd at people saying he was the best or even close, because I remember his old Cash Money stuff and think about the crap that hits the radio, but eventually I started listening to the last two years worth of mixtapes and while it wasn't really easily digestible I got hooked.

Most of his cameo stuff that hits the radio can be pretty bad, but the scope of his work on all the mixtapes is ridiculous, seriously the guy is a total workhorse that really cares about his craft, I hate "best emcee alive" debates but when I think about it I can't think of any other guy that's really close to him at this point.

EDIT: I am absolutely itching for the official C3

I have been trying to avoid thsi thread all day and finally caved.

Lil Wayne is [censored] horrible and if you like him you are making hip-hop suck and I am going to take that personally and say unkind things about you in the mod forum or something.

CDC,

Want to cry?

Jay-Z was supposed to be on that song, but didn't make it to the studio or something.

That whole track was terrrrible and I cannot fathom how it made that album. I equally disliked "Did It Before," such a seemingly awesome combo that doesn't make it happen for some reason.

He puts out TONS of material. A lot of it is sick good. A lot of it is meh. He has grown as a rapper throughout the last 5-10 years more than...well EVERY OTHER RAPPER ALIVE. He's creative, he tries new/different flows and evolves. At some point he's going to be the "best rapper alive" simply by attrition.

Btw, his cameo stuff is fine/solid. I've actually liked several R&B songs I never would listen to simply b/c of his verse. He breaks it up enough that even when his verse is "meh" it gives the track a fitting punch anyway.

I can't listen to him being interviewed though...it's so painful.
