it all depends on what I'm feeling like that year. This past year, I just cracked open an expensive bottle of wine and watched teh FA Cup on PPV. Two years ago a few friends and I went into NYC and dropped a ton of money.

I really don't like doing all that much special for my birthday as I've been dissapointed more often then not, so now I just like to chill and do what i feel like doing

Low key dinner with a couple people. If others saw your table they wouldn't even know it was somebody's birthday

I haven't done anything more than this for anyone in years.

SO: Dinner, possibly a BJ if I'm feeling generous.

Parents, siblings: Phone call if I remember

Friends: Nothing unless they're throwing a party.

Daughter: ROYALTY, in 3 weeks it's her quinceanera, costing about 5K for her bday party. Her Sweet 13 was about 3K and next year for her Sweet 16, I'll be taking her and 3 friends and a friend for me on a cruise (3-4k?). Yeah, she's spoiled like that.

Me: PARTY!!! It's "MY" day and I do whatever I want to do all day long, then have a great dinner with friends/family and then go clubbin.

because you are probably like one of those parents on MTV super sweet 16.

no kid should be spoiled like that.

also, "if im feeling generous". if that's really your attitude im guessing your SO is finding other women who are more generous.

I agree completely. There's no reason to be spending so much on b'day parties.

This isn't being jealousy btw, it's just redic to spoil children like that.

Pfft.

I raised my daughter as a single, BROKE, parent for the first 10 years of her life. Now I have the means, and I enjoy spoiling/splurging on her. HOWEVER, let the record show that she is one of the best kids out there and is not even close to being ANYTHING like a MTV Super Sweet Brat. She's spoiled, but not a brat.

The whole "if I'm feeling generous" thing is more tongue in cheek, but if you think about it...you don't do a sex act unless you're in the mood.
