How do I set up live for XBOX 360?
I have a a modem and router setup and it says I need 3 ethernet cables to connect. The computer and XBOX are in different rooms so I have no idea how I'm supposed to get the router hooked up to the 360. I'm sure I have no idea what I'm doing but any help would be appreciated.
Will connecting my laptop and XBOX via the ethernet cord work? |

Re: How do I set up live for XBOX 360?
You have 2 options:
1) run a network wire from router to Xbox 2) $99 Xbox wireless adapter (must be the Xbox 360 one) I guess there are a couple more options, but they are more difficult to set up. You could get a wireless network adapter that plugs into the network port of the 360 rather than the USB port. They are cheap but harder to find. Its what I use, and its pretty reliable. You also could swap the cable modem & router setup to directly hookup to the Xbox. From there you can run your PC via wireless adapter. This does work as I had this setup for a long time. Its a bit of a pain to setup, but did work reliably. Once you have the 360 connected to the internet its a pice of cake getting connected to Live. Hope that answers your question. |

Re: How do I set up live for XBOX 360?
1 ethernet cable goes from your cable modem to your router
1 ethernet cable goes from your router to your PC 1 ethernet cable goes from your router to your 360 Make sure your router has DHCP enabled. This is only a potential issue if you had somebody else setup/install your router/network. Turn on the 360, tell it to automatically obtain everything and you're set to go. |

Thanks for the help guys. I was trying to avoid shelling out another $100 but it looks like I'm going to have to pick up the adaptor.
