Default Follow home robberies from Normandie.

A few months ago, someone posted about the level of care he takes to ensure no one is following him home when he leaves Los Angeles area casinos. He was called paranoid, over worried, etc. I should note that anywhere in Los Angeles, I am constantly aware of my surroundings...I don't get caught off guard. Perhaps the following article regarding recent crimes is of interest:

Suspect Wanted in Follow-home Robberies
Los Angeles: Los Angeles and Orange County detectives are looking for a second suspect responsible for a spate of follow-home robberies, which originated from Southland casinos.

The first robbery occurred June 23, 2006, when two Black men followed home a patron from Gardena's Normandie Casino. The men robbed the patron at gunpoint as he arrived at his home in Orange County.

Orange County Sheriff's detectives arrested John Henry Bolton on July 21, 2006, after he was identified from surveillance footage at the casino. Bolton's 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix was caught on tape and led detectives to his home where they found Bolton, along with the black hooded sweat shirts used in the robberies, and a victim's cell phone taken in one holdup.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles police detectives joined the case in June after an Encino resident was followed home June 30th and robbed around 2:50 AM. A Venice-area resident was followed home and robbed on July 7th, and a third victim was robbed in Tarzana on July 12th.

Bolton's accomplice is over 6 feet tall and weighs over 200 pounds. His head is shaved and he sports a mustache and goatee. The suspects' blue steel semi automatic handgun is still at large.

Anyone leaving banks or casinos should be watching for any suspicious activity," said LAPD spokesman Lieutenant Paul Vernon. "If you think you are being followed, don't go home, but drive to a nearby police or fire station. Persons traveling alone are more at risk as suspects may see them as an easier target."

Anyone with information is asked to call West Valley Detectives at 818-374-7740. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).

3 arrested in robbery of casino winnings

9/12/2006

Amherst police recovered a woman's casino winnings and arrested three Niagara Falls men who allegedly followed her home and robbed her early Monday.
Police charged Curtis D. Pugh, 23; Matthew Rimmen, 25; and Michael A. Rimmen, 30, with robbery, assault, burglary, conspiracy and criminal possession of stolen property.

A 55-year-old Sweetwood Drive woman told Amherst police that she won $4,925 playing video poker at Seneca Niagara Casino, then drove home.

When she had trouble closing her garage door, police said, she was confronted by three thieves. She put up a fight but was beaten with a rake and other tools in her garage. The three fled with her purse containing the winnings.

Officer Thomas Barillari, following the ambulance that took the woman to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, for treatment, stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and found evidence linking the occupants to the crime.

If a rapist feels remorse about raping a woman it doesn't change the fact that I think he should have his unit chopped off.

Wow... I lived right down the block from there last year... Its such a nice neighborhood and the cops have nothing to do there but patrol. Not quite like university heights where some guy got shot with a sawed off a week ago (1 day before i went to stay there)

With all due sympathy to the victims, am I the only one here that thinks it is no mean feat to follow someone all the way from the Normandie to Venice and Encino without being spotted?

Most people would never notice they're being followed. Especially at night when you can't distinguish one pair of headlights from another in the rearview.

Especially after grinding for 10 or 12 hours in the Normandie casino.

Thanks for the heads up.
