Default big river overbet from good player

villain is YouGotWorked, a good/great winning player.

we have been tangling a big throughout a few tables this session and ive been getting the best of it most of the time. its very possible he could be tilting or at least a little rattled. i have a LAG image and im pretty sure he thinks im a thinking player, too. he is 21/17 fwiw.

i need to call $871 and im getting 1.67-to-1. what do u make of this overbet?

Your hand is pretty much face up here, he knows you have AT, AJ maybe AQ but considering you said you have a LAG image he would probably expect you to 3bet AQ. So it really comes down to if he thinks your a station, and he's trying to get you to stack off with your AT, AJ, or does he think you like to fold on the river. If you thinks your a station, fold, if he thinks you like to fold, call.

But in a vacuum I would say this is a fold, as AQ looks like the low part of his range.

I call, his range is wide, he probably thinks you peel the flop/turn with 88 but fold most Ax type hands on the river.

He's definitely bluffing here some of the time, but probably not often enough to make calling good here. I agree with most of what was said in the above post regarding the relevance of your image here as well. One would think he would bet smaller with a better hand here since your hand is so face up, but against good tricky players who balance their ranges well you can't really use that logic IMO.

umm our hand definitely is not face up imo. could have anything from an ace to 88 to a set on this board.

i probably call the river just to see what he's doing this with considering i can't decide if i like calling or folding better.

really? i dont even think he would value overbet 76/96 type of hands here. i think he is prolly thinking i can only call him with sets and two pairs here. the problem with that is that three straights got there (54/85/T8) that he coulda played like this and perhaps hes just shoving them to get max value when i do have set/two pair.
