Default Depositing into UB

I sent a cashiers check to UB from the US. After a week and no deposit I e-mailed them. They said it can take anywhere from a week to 40 days for them to receive the check.
How could it take 40 days? Anyone with a similar experience? I realize most of you don't deposit this way but thougt maybe someone would know if this is standard for Canadas postal system?
Thanks

This was probably a mistake. They are the last site I would send a cashier's check to. You don't have checking account? NETeller is so much easier.

No checking account. I deposited this way about a year ago. It took like 6 days.
I wanted to take advantage of the recent reload bonus. I just can't see how it would take 40 days to mail something anywhere. I do trust UB though.
