My girl does this too. She keeps the old 50 and 100's. We have a safe deposit box I drop a load off every 6 months or so.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's funny.

I drop a load off in your girlfriend every 6 months too.

For the last year or two whenever I get an old 100 dollar bill I keep it separate and have been just putting them in my safety deposit box.

the way our money is going, id turn them into something that will hold their value better. A safety deposit box full of gold coins would be just as sexy as one full of old hundos.

There was a thread on a diff forum where a guy paid for something with an old $100 and because it was old it didn't have the right paper or ink or some such, so the counterfeit pen they used showed it was counterfeit. The employee ripped up the bill in front of the guy and called a security guard. It was all sorted out rather quickly, plus the manager of the place gave him a free $100 gift certificate.

So, go spend your old $100s and see if you can get some free stuff out of it when employees call your money fake

Do the old $2 bills have more than $2 in value now? Maybe this means nothing, but I guess it could end up being like a Buffalo nickel or whatever.

[/ QUOTE ]

inflation renders 99.9% of bills/coins inefficient as a long term store of value.
