4 folds, MP3 raises to t775, CO folds, Hero ?

Middle stage of 33$ freezout on PS, second hour, average stack was about 9K.
I was only one orbit at the table, raised one hand. Don`t know much about MP3, this is his first raise. Also BB was sitting out. Easy shove?

I'd shove here, any decent sized raise commits you & 88 is not a hand which wants to encourage seeing a flop or a hand you want to go n go with or a hand that wants to invite someone else in.
I guess 3-betting to 2300 (~3x) has the advantage that you can fold if SB & BB both jam but that's very very unlikely & I don't see many other advantages.
Flat calling is better than folding but it's not going to be particularly easy to play a flop (basically your committed on most boards & he plays pretty perfectly) & you dont want to encourage the blinds in.

Yeah any 3-bet non shove commits you so just shove and pick up the 1400 or so in the middle. However knowing nothing about MP3 i don't mind flatcalling in position and re-evaluating after the flop, but i'd probably shove.

You have only been there for one orbit, so, unless somebody has been a maniac, no reads that you can hang a hat on yet has surfaced. Even with the BB sitting out, MP3 still knows that there are three others yet to act behind him, which does add to the strength of his raise. His M is ~7.5 ('Orange Zone' in HOH2). First-in vigorish is a large portion of the 'Orange Zone' thought process, which could open up his range a bit.

Your M is ~10.5, just outside the Orange Zone, so you are in no position to be messing around. If you are to play this, you will be playing for MP2's stack. It is also possible you will be playing for your stack as well, depending on the blinds.

To me, it's a matter of preference. Pocket Eights are right in the middle. Half the time, you're racing. The other half of the time, you're dominated. You could be up against Ax, which would be your best scenario.

I would tend to wait looking for a better spot, with the flexibility to be more selective. However, I would not fault a push here. It is simply a matter of preference.

I don't mind shoving 88 here... A called could be argued, but then you're just playing it for set value and will be easily bluffed off the hand if you don't hit...

The mp3 raise is pretty weak. It looks like he's trying to take a stab at the big blind money because he is sitting out, while leaving himself room to fold to a shove.

Because BB is sitting out I think that widens mp3's opening range to try to take the blinds uncontested. However given his weak raise I think his calling range is still fairly narrow. So I think a resteal shove would be profitable.

Another vote for resteal shove, he's in late position and is folded to him with a blind sitting out so could essentially be raising almost anything here. Any other raise size commits you anyway

Hero raises all-in t6854, 2 folds, MP3 calls all-in t4200.
Uncalled bets: t1879 returned to Hero.

Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t1125, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: t10625)

Turn: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (t1125, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: t10625)

River: A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t1125, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: t10625)

Results:
Final pot: t1125
MP3 showed 9h As

Unfortunately he wasn`t good enough to fold A9o
