Default Tax matters.

There is nowhere specific I know of within the forums that you can post questions and comments about tax.

Until there is, I'm going to suggest that we try to link all threads about tax in this thread, and I'm going to link to this thread at the bottom of lorinda's FAQ sticky-post so that it's always handy.

If you see a thread about tax anywhere in the forums, please add a post, including the link, to this thread. Please don't ask questions or give answers in this thread, but you might consider adding a line to your link-post to say what the linked thread is about, for ease of reference.

Also, if you have any personal Favorite Topic tax threads saved, please add them here.

Let's see how it goes. Thanks.

From almost exactly one year ago, possibly the best thread we've had about taxes in which a knowledgeable poster named 'CPA' answers question from the ignorant folk like me.

The above link describes the IRS defintion of a gambling session as well as what deductions are allowable. It agrees with Russ Fox's session definition in his article linked above as well.

Page 12 of the above link to Pub 529 describes the diary you are required to keep and it's contents.
