I'm surprised there aren't more degenerate ex-pro-athletes trying to be in on the poker scene. Someone should get Barkley to lose his money to us (meaning u guys not me) instead of blackjack.

[/ QUOTE ]

I often play NL against a retired (from about a ten year career) NBA former starter that is about the least degenerate player I've ever played. During the first few plays I wondered if he was ever going to play a hand.

Come to think of it all three NBA types I've played often have been pretty snug.

Fair question but I guess when I posted the above I had a brain fart and forgot I was on a forum where respecting privacy isn't the norm (that said I occasionally need a sick gossip fix).

Now that my brain fart has passed I'll decline to answer since the guy is very unassuming and may not want the word spread that he's essentially a nut-peddler when playing.

I heard that when Borg had a big boxing match recently, Barkley and Michael Jordan were betting somewhere in the neighborhood of 25k-30k per hand at blackjack. Hey, I mean, if you got it you got it. I think a lot of athletes steer clear of poker (particularly televised tournaments) because they don't want national attention drawn to the fact that they're big gamblers (Barkley excluded).

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww... You said he was a good player. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't want his name on here. He is a public figure, and I am assuming you have played with him in a public casino or card room...
