Can Mods Read Other User PMs?

Just came up in a conversation with another 2p2er... I know a mod and could ask him, but I felt this would be good for all users to know. Thanks in advance.

Kerowo - haha, I can see how my OP seems like an admission of guilt - other than learning the secret identity of a high profile poster, no sensitive info whatsoever. I honestly don't care if they read my PMs, I was just curious. And obviously if true, it's a real potential spot for mod abuse towards users with things to hide...

I think this has been answered before in the negative and that only admins have access to posters' PM's. Note though that admins have access to *all* such PM's, as the current software continues to store even those that you delete. They apparently can only retrieve those you sent though and couldn't retrieve all deleted ones sent to you.

Nope. I have enough trouble keeping up with my PMs. I have no desire to see what you clowns are sending back and forth.

Thanks for the clarification - that's actually what I assumed, but the other 2p2er I was chatting with seemed to think otherwise. He's maybe a bit paranoid [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

Your friend couldn't possibly be as paranoid as me. I lie awake at night wondering who's reading my PMs (all 12 of them). I became so paranoid I actually had to stop gossiping about others. Took the fun right out of it.
