Yes, you should be worried! Seriously, its no joking matter. I use an autohotkey script with a gamepad to do most of my poker playing. Mouse/keyboard is very bad long term.

good luck,

BB

Many of us will get it soon. The best thing to do is to try for quality of posts rather than quantity. The best way to accomplish this is by staying away from OOT and BBV. Post only about relevant poker topics in the strategy forums.

It's too late for me, I'm already a degenerate OOT addict, lost in the abyss of Adriana Lima and cooking contest threads.

But you youngins can still save yourselves by never going there. JUST SAY NO to OOT and BBV, and YOU can prevent Carpal\Tunnel!

i use this mouse, i think it saved me from surgery. Been using it for 2 years now with much less RSI/Carpal tunnel pain. They even have a program that clicks for you, but do not hover the mouse over the allin button!

I use one of these.

Wrist Brace

They are great. They come in small med and large and left or right handed. I never play without it.

Just to get the age consideration out of the way, I'm 30. I recently developed a Carpal Tunnel strain (not a doctor, so I'm not talking about a diagnosed degenerative disorder). Basically, using a mouse, writing (or any other wrist action hurt like hell). I had been spending alot of time on the computer, so I thought that was the cause. After wearing a wrist brace during the day with little effect, I talked to my mother, a Nurse Practitioner, and she told me to wear the brace when I slept. Apparently most Carpal Tunnel (not all) is caused by sleeping with the wrist bent in an awkward position... the whole mouse thing is just an incidental symptom. After 2 days wearing the brace at night, I noticed a massive improvement. A week later, my wrist was fine, and I haven't had a problem since.

I have heard reference to a medical study done proving the above, but I don't know if it was published online, or in a standard journal. I just saw mention of the wrist thing in the FAQ, and thought I'd share what worked for me. If anyone has the time to search for the study, more power to you.

Also for clarification, I'm a video tech/ asst. editor, so I'm continuously on the computer with a standard 2 button mouse, both before and after the above.
