there are many hands i beat that play this way, if its live then no, but its an online 6 handed, so definitely... A5, K5, A9, K9, any two spades - and i have enough outs vs 55, 44, 33, 22... i'll cross post this to see what kind of responses i get from short handed and high stakes... but it isnt as easy as 'fold, you have nothing'

You have one overcard and no draw. Fold. You can't call. The only alternative would be a bluff raise, which would have to be followed up with a river bet. Sounds expensive.

there is absolutely no doubt that you frequently see bluffs in this spot. However I rarely see them from someone who raised, then called a reraise. Unless the player isn't thinking at all.

the spot you'll frequently see this exact play in is:

you have AJ, you raise, other player calls out of position.

flop

Q 6s 7s

check/call by vil

Q 6s 7s 8s

check/raise by vil

And vil frequently has As 5, or total air. But your calling range in a 6 handed game has to be a little better. Now I'm ok if you call this down ONCE. Show that you called down really light here. But then you have to use that for the rest of the session to get thin value bets out of the vil.

In this hand I could see seat 2 having 99 for example (and you're behind). Or JTs. Then obviously a big part of his range is made hands.

seat 3 could have a redraw based on tell, i'd reraise more often here and get a c/c river or fold to a cap. a loose aggressive player needs to be setup this way for later hands.

- i thought it was very likely he had a draw, and since i have the nut spade i'm ahead of all his semibluff hands... i called and the river was Q, rather than c/c i c/r and won w/o showdown... the play may have been more player dependant than i initially thought, but i certainly dont think the turn was out of line by any means - would be open to hear some hands that would make sense assuming the player read and board context... also, a very wide opening range for villain with the given limper ahead
