The story subtitle is misleading. It says:
"How Bush Allowed an Army of For-Profit Contractors to Invade the U.S. Treasury"

But the whole purpose of the war and everything surrounding it is exactly these kinds of things.

"Swindle" is the most outrageous overstatement of this story Ive seen here for a long time. I also find the story quite difficult to believe. Cost plus contracts still have performance standards and there isnt a chance in hell that Parson's would be paid if the building were as bad as claimed. Furthermore, that is out of control of the administration, with the DCAA and or the DLA overseeing the contracts and performance. The DCAA and DLA officers are not appointed by the adminstration, so if they screwed up there is still no truth in connecting it to a "swindle" that leads to the White House.

Sorry if it's been threaded to death - I don't read the politics forum anymore. It's just generally too stupid IMO, no offense.

It's a good idea not to have people spamming the forum with links, but a rule prohibiting any and all posts with only a link is just stupid. I could just paraphrase a few points from the article, and type it below the links and I guess that would make the post ok. That's just silly.

Conspiracy thread????

IIRC, he makes a significant portion of his living directly from that bureaucracy.

I'm not saying BAN OP or any of that nonsense, just, there do be many a thread involving the Iraq angle so I like to pick and choose which discussions to get involved with and a very useful tool for that is the insight (even if it is just a few line description) from the OP.

Prob not your intention but "The Great Iraq Swindle" title sort of connotes the story is heading down a conspiracy sort of line.

Anywayz, peace.

Ah, that explains. When we say 'the bureaucracy is bad', it feels to him as if we are saying 'you are bad'.
