Yes, lets smear Jimmy Carter, a man who builds houses for poor people during his retirement.

The Wall Street Journal Review Was Priceless
The WSJ totally skewered Carter's book.
Normally I find book review articles to be boring but the WSJ review of Carter's book is HIGHLY entertaining. I highly recommend reading the review. |

Re: Jimmy Carter\'s latest book
The post had nothing to do with the book. It was just an attempt to slur the name of one of the US's greatest statesmen. Every President has something bad you can say about them.

Yes, lets smear Jimmy Carter, a man who builds houses for poor people during his retirement. [/ QUOTE ] Jimmy Carter is a very sincere, intelligent, good-hearted person; and I genuinely like him. That said, I think he is far better doing charitable work in an unofficial capacity than in trying to do it as President. The only really good thing I can recall Carter accomplishing in his tenure as President was the Israeli/Arab peace process. Everything else from that time I recollect as being fairly disastrous, from his handling of the economy, to his handling of the Iran hostage crisis, to his giveaway of American assets, to his showing weakness to our enemies and weakening American prestige worldwide. All in all, Carter was probably too good, conscientious, compassionate, and especially, too IDEALISTIC a man to be a really effective President. I can rather picture Andy Fox falling into the same sort of trap, were Andy ever to be elected President;-) When your (our/America's) adversaries/enemies are interested PRIMARILY in gaining an advantage over you, giving them the benefit of the doubt as a default stance is not a successful or advisable strategy. |

Re: Jimmy Carter\'s latest book
Youre right, he didn't slaughter hundreds of thousands of Latin Americans like Regan.
Or murder over 2 million vietnamese like Kennedy/Nixon. Who cares about Rhodesia? |

Everything else from that time I recollect as being completely disastrous, from his handling of the economy, to his handling of the Iraq crisis, to his giveaway of American assets, to his showing weakness to our enemies and weakening American prestige worldwide. [/ QUOTE ] Fixed your post. But the subject was about Jimmy Carter, why are you going completely off-topic on a Bush rant? We all know about the disasters of Bush. |

[/ QUOTE ] cardcounter0, you could do a lot better with more on-topic posting and with less sardonicism (which both would be better for the forum as well). YOU are the one going off-topic here. Moreover you're doing it in a trollish manner. |
