Ok that makes more sense. Wouldn't it be easier just to put your BR in £ though anyway?

It was for me, but my circumstances will be different to a lot of others.
If you want to play on FT because of rakeback or whatever, you're plaing in dollars.
It's not that there's no way out, just that it's a pain in the rear... it's a beat, not a disaster.

It can go up as well as down though, it's just another gamble.

In terms of petrol no we have not seen the effect since the price rose by almost 30% which gives you an indication of how mush our dollar has strengthened against yours in the past 10 months.

It doesn't bother me that much. As I have noted previously I dont' receive a lot of income from poker. And play primarily for entertainment value.

Not to go all "finance" on your ass in BBV or anything but the dollar declining is very good for the US and a strong Euro is not necessarily a plus for Euroland...

Can someone actually explain to me why this matters much to ms players? Or any poker players?

I mean, if it's that big a problem just move up a level to compensate for lost winnings, but we are only talking a few % here?

When I started playing online the exchange rate was 1.45 or so, so if i won $1450 I got £1000 in my normal currency.

Now at 2.06, I get £703.88, so it's quite the pay cut.

I'm lucky enough that I moved into mainly using £ anyway, but to say it's not much difference is pretty silly IMO

But you don't invest as much to make that same $ return do you? So your ROI should still stay the same. Assuming I don't completely suck at economics, which I probably do.

Still sucks though I guess because now you either have to play twice as many tables or move up to a higher stake, either of which you may not be comfortable with.

it's grossly unfair to tax gambling winnings and not allow you to write off gambling losses against your tax bill.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's only really unfair for professional gamblers, and most pros shouldn't have losing years...

Because I said we never lost anything. Yes, that's exactly what I said.

No, wait, you're an idiot, but that's okay. Just pile on and say any old nonsense. No one will care if it makes sense.

BTW, if there's any more domestic inflation than usual, I haven't noticed it.

Hmm, I'm guessing that you don't eat or drive?
